Nathan Baker

Successful Projects Completed

Christchurch Hospital Relocation
Completed in 2021. Full relocation services including the relocation of ED, ICU and operating theaters over 15 days. This was New Zealand’s largest hospital relocation.

Auckland Council Merger (Supercity)
Completed in 2010. This involved the relocation of over 4000 staff across the entire Regional Auckland area with over 25 locations to be managed.

MBIE 
Completed in 2013. This involved the relocation of over 3,000 staff from multiple locations across Wellington CBD. Services included the full disconnection and relocation of IT equipment.

New Zealand Defence Force, GCSB and NZSIS
Completed in 2011 and 2016. Relocation of staff from Defence House, post Kaikoura Earthquake, and Relocation of Classified Information in 2011.

Successful Projects Completed

AgResearch Lincoln 2023

  • Led the successful relocation of the AgResearch Service Centre 15 x buildings and Research Centre 12 x buildings to the new Tūhiraki Laboratory Facility.
  • Overcoming complex logistical challenges including the coordination of sensitive scientific equipment, minimising disruption to ongoing research operations, and ensuring compliance with strict biosecurity and safety protocols.

National Library/NZ Archives 2010 – 2025

  • Successfully managed the local and domestic relocation of heritage collections for over 15 years, strictly adhering to chain of custody protocols with zero incidents, ensuring the preservation, security, and integrity of culturally significant assets.

IRD Asteron House Multi-Stage Relocation Project 2019 – 2023

  • Stage 1: Initial Relocation to Temporary Sites
    • Successfully relocated 900 staff and associated furniture to four temporary sites within the Wellington CBD.
    • Collaborated with cultural stakeholders to implement the relocation of all taonga to secure temporary storage, following strict cultural protocols and chain of custody procedures.
  • Stage 2: Full Building Clearance
    • Cleared 11 floors of furniture from Asteron House.
    • Coordinated offsite relocation for reuse, donation, recycling, or disposal, ensuring sustainability and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Stage 3: Return to Asteron House
    • Relocated 900 staff and furniture back to Asteron House from the four temporary sites, including items held in storage.
    • Cleared temporary sites post-relocation, managing donation and recycling/disposal processes.
    • Reinstalled taonga at Asteron House, strictly adhering to cultural processes and protocols to ensure respectful handling and placement.

Completed in 2025. Building 170 Decant. Removal of furniture and distribute to Unitec campuses. Internal shuffle and removal of damaged furniture.

Ministry of Justice
2024 – 2026 Building reinforcing project. Decant and store working floors – staff reshuffle, file relocation, ICT disconnection and reconnection for 1000+ staff.

University of Auckland
Geological Department Rock Library, Completed 2025. Package and safe handling of trays, containers, rocks. Total between 12-14000 trays.

Tauranga City Council 
Completed in 2025. Relocation of 300+ staff from 3 sites within Tauranga, Decant of furniture, Office set-up.

Beca
2025 – Relocation of 1000+ staff from Pitt Street to Britomart. IT Transport, Desk Relocations. Full set up.

Niwa – Hamilton
2023 Multiple Labs, equipment and 150 staff relocation, Decant of the old premises – 60% Furniture donated 10% Recycled – 30% Disposal

Hamilton District Council
400+ Staff consolidation into one building from 7 sites. IT Relocation and selective FF&E. Full building clear-out.
